As per the decision of the Holy Synod held held in October, 2006, His Holiness the Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Iwas ordained Very Rev. Raban Mattias Nayis as Metropolitan by name PHILEXINOS, on Sunday, January 7, 2007, in a ceremony held at the Sts. Peter and Paul's Cathedral, Ma’arrat Saidnaya, Syria.  On ordination Mor Philexinos was appointed as the 2nd patriarchal assistant and administer of the St. Ephraim Theological College in Ma’arrat Saidnaya. From January 2008 onwards His Eminence took full charge as Patriarchal Assistant after Mor Athanasius Elias Bahi was transferred to the diocese of Canada. H.E. Mor Philexionos will also supervise the endowments and patriarchal charitable institutions in Atchaneh – Lebanon.
